April 2006 Meeting

 Topic:

Your Brand – It’s Integrity, Alignment, Momentum and Performance

Whether you’re a “Singleton”, a Partnership, an SME. An MNSC or a PLC – Branding Matters! What do you stand for?  What do you DO? What are you good at and what are your VALUES?  Private, Voluntary or Public sector - your Brand needs to say ALL of these things – and much, much more – according to the experts. And then there’s living up to it. Have YOU ever encountered a glossy Brand and found that beneath the surface resides something VERY different? The acquisition of BodyShop by L’Oreal is an up to the minute case study unfolding, possibly unravelling, real time, that puts tremors of tectonic proportions through all of these items – the outcomes of which can decimate or quadruple its value as a good investment, or one that could even detract from the acquirer. And so to your Brand. Is it doing its job? Is it understood? Is it an asset or a liability? And is there an END GAME at play here, that is to say – are you building Brand Value, whether for harvesting along the way or for that ultimate sell-on? Anita Roddick’s netted £153 million for her “retirement fund” with £450 million going to her co-directors and shareholders. None too shabby in terms of Brand Performance

Date:

Thursday 27th April 2006 – time and location, read on ….

 Starter:

andrew boddice

Andrew Boddice - Principal, Myron Partnership

Andy majors in all things Brand related, bringing to life many of the key facets of branding and asking those searching questions around brand responsibility at the top of every organisation. Who IS the custodian of the brand? What is that person doing to ensure that the foundations and spirit of that brand are effectively communicated across the organisation? Is 10% of their time spent ON brand issues enough, too much or too little?

A 40 something, married, British citizen with two sons studying History St Andrews. Originally from the Black Country but spending most of his adult life living in Cambridgeshire while working in London Andy was head-hunted to join Tayburn, headquartered in Edinburgh, prior to setting up Myron Partnership last year. Initially a Palaeobotanist and Palynologist, he worked in Retail management in the Midlands and London, prior to moving into the world of National Newspapers and Regional television, including part of the Rupert Murdoch Empire. Andy’s main operational areas of expertise have been in advertising sales, marketing, client relationship management, research and analysis. His move into a senior management role with Scottish Media Group brought him north of the border, leading to his joining Tayburn in 2002 after a spell as an independent consultant working with a South African Knowledge Transfer organisation. At Tayburn Andy was responsible for Sales and Marketing, including business development. Extra curricular interests involve Walking, Dry Stane Dyking, Archery, Botanical Art, watching Rugby Union - a qualified RFU Coach and Referee as well as a supporter of Leicester Tigers - and Cricket. Andy is also a Board member of Agenda: Social Responsibility in Scotland. Having recently launched  Myron Partnership - specialist Brand consultancy, he is working in developing technologies, renewable energy, CSR and financial sectors
